Flaky Lips

One Act Drama – 2 Women – Bare stage with a wall dividing it.

Is the truth only skin deep?

Synopsis

A hundred years ago a town decided to separate: everyone of one colour on one side of a wall, everyone of another colour on the other side of the wall. In the present, two young women must come face-to-face with their greatest fear – meeting someone from the other side.

They must overcome generations of lies, nightmares and hate-filled words to even have a pleasant conversation with each other. But there’s more at stake than conversation: each girl holds a secret that’s more hurtful than a generation of words.

Characters

  • True (young female)
  • Legit (young female)

One of the girls is of one race. One is of another. (e.g. black/white, white/native, black/Asian, Asian/Latin, etc.) It is my intention to let the producing company decide which is which.

Setting

The play takes place on a hillside. The stage is bare except for a wall which runs upstage centre to downstage centre. The wall can be abstract or realistic, as long as it clearly divides.
